North Boise Futbol Club traces its roots to a simple beginning. Stephen Gamboa—known to many as Coach Steve—started “Pee Wee Soccer Stars” with a small group of toddlers at Camel’s Back Park. What began as a playful introduction to the game gradually evolved into the School of Soccer, a program built on creating a fun, engaging environment where young players could develop a lifelong love for the beautiful game. While the name has changed over the years, the spirit, coaching philosophy, and passion behind the program have remained constant.

As those early players grew, so did the vision. Coach Steve recognized the need for a pathway that would allow players to continue developing in a more competitive environment without losing the values that made the program special. That vision came to life in 2022 with the founding of North Boise Futbol Club.

Founder and Director Stacey Hopstad experienced this journey firsthand. With two daughters in Coach Steve’s program, she faced the same decision many families encounter—whether to join a large, corporate club or pursue a different path. Choosing a more personal, development-focused approach, she began coaching her daughters’ teams under the School of Soccer umbrella before helping establish North Boise Futbol Club, alongside teams like the boys’ Galacticos squad. Together, these teams have shown that players can thrive and compete at a high level without being part of a massive organization.

Today, North Boise Futbol Club builds on that foundation—offering a competitive pathway for growing players while staying true to the community-driven, player-first values that started it all.
